The beginning of a career in caravanning
1974-1975
Kevin Tobin purchases Willows Caravan Park in Rosebud, Victoria. Colin Tobin becomes the manager and junior partner.
Willows Caravan Park sold
1982
Colin joins Scenic Caravans in Dandenong, Victoria as a salesman.
10 Years at Scenic Caravans
1985-95
Colin is promoted to Sales Manager and continues in that role for a decade.
Oasis Caravans
1995
Colin joins Oasis Caravans in Bayswater as a salesman, and is soon promoted to Sales Manager.
Canterbury Caravans was purchased
1997
Colin and Pam Tobin purchase Canterbury Caravans in The World of Caravans complex in Bayswater.
Paramount Caravans and Golden Eagle
2000-2004
Paramount Caravans, a caravan manufacturer is established, followed by Golden Eagle Caravans established in 2004.
Canterbury Caravans wins the CIA Vic Business Award for Excellence in the Caravan Dealer/Retailer category.

Meet the Canterbury Caravans team
Colin
Dealer Principal
Colin is well known within the Caravan industry. He began working with his father who ran a caravan park over 50 years ago. He moved on to manage Scenic Caravans, followed by taking a job at Oasis Caravans. In 1997, Colin and his wife Pam, started Canterbury Caravans, aiming for it to be a 'one stop shop' for caravanning needs. Colin was a board member of Caravan Industry Victoria for many years, finishing off his term with getting inducted into the Hall of Fame.

We call Boyd our ‘Custom Build Silver Fox’! With many years of involvement in the caravan industry, his product knowledge is extensive. He prides himself on rolling out the red carpet for all our customers, aiming to bring dreams to life with custom build orders. Boyd loves being outdoors with his family, especially bike riding, fishing and exploring.

Passionate about caravanning, Ian has been part of our team since 2009. In 2010, he was awarded the Young Achievers Award by Caravan Industry Victoria. Over the years, he has worked across multiple roles within the business. His dedication to Canterbury Caravans, its manufacturers, suppliers and customers is commendable, earning him the position of General Manager. Ian is a proud family man and is active with his three children’s sports. If you get him started about kids footy, netball and basketball, be prepared for a long conversation accompanied by a story or two!

Service Manager
Starting as a washer boy, Karl moved to being a Service Technican. The product knowledge he gained gave him confidence to take on the role as our Parts Department Manager. He was recognised for his strong rapport with our customers and staff, recently earning the position of Service Manager. Karl has a flair for art and drawing, and loves spending quality time with his two boys, often taking them away on short breaks to explore with their fur baby.

Office Administrator
Vanessa has been a valued member of the team since 2017 and is well known for her amazing coffees! She has a high level of attention to detail, reflected in the care she places on the administrative flow within the office. She enjoys working closely with our customers and assisting with custom built caravans, specifically the planning stage. Vanessa is a single mum who has a close bond with her son, striving to give him as many experiences as she can. She enjoys learning, reading and watching documentaries about history, specifically the Tudor era.

As the daughter of Colin Tobin, Laura has been around caravans all her life. With being brought up with frequent travelling, she now enjoys taking her three children away on caravanning adventures. Laura is currently transitioning into the role of Business Manager, stepping into the shoes of her father as he enjoys semi retirement. She looks forward to the future of Canterbury Caravans, continuing to grow the business to adapt to the evolution of the caravan industry.
